| The body is a
fully integrated organism
| Over the years I realized
that most people have a perception that is out of line with
what it really takes to live a healthy, vital life. The body
needs to be looked at as an integrated unit, a single organism,
working as one, not a collection of parts merely put together.
Exercise selection, dietary choices, rest and relaxation all
contribute to the body's overall well-being - for athletes
and non-athletes alike. And just as everyone looks different
on the outside, we all look different on the inside. Thus,
the approach taken to improve athletic performance, health
and vitality or appearance and confidence, will be different
for each of us. |

My approach to helping you further
Truly helping you change your life requires
a much stronger approach than simply cutting your calories or having
you exercise longer. Here are a few of the areas I may need to look
at during an assessment with you...
- Posture: See below
- Nutritional Deficiencies
- Digestion / Gastrointestinal Problems
- Stress
- Sleep
- Mental Barriers
| Postural Assessment
Poor posture will speed the
deterioration of joints, decrease potential performance,
and be a catalyst to injury and pain. I use corrective
exercises to balance out postural misalignments.
Corrective exercise is the use
of stretching, low intensity resistance training and
selected movement patterns to balance the body. Once
the body is balanced it can move more efficiently and
is less prone to injury. In addition, a balanced body
with good postural alignment will allow for less restricted
movement with greater efficiency. Thus, you will get
through the day with greater ease and less drain.
An imbalance should be considered
a weak link, so therefore the foundation of any training
program should target this. One can not achieve maximum
potential until weak links are addressed and overcome.
This holds true for everyone whether competing as an
athlete or otherwise.
The exercises/stretches prescribed
will depend on the outcome of a postural assessment.
The exercises can be done at home with no special equipment.
Assessing and correcting posture
is an absolute must. |

Many styles of training over the
years
Enlisted with the Vermont Army National
Guard for six years, Scott received formal military training and
discipline. However it was bodybuilding which compelled him to challenge
himself even farther. He now trains by integrating the whole body
as a unit. This is very different than your typical bodybuilding
style which lacks the emphasis of dynamic stability and power.
