Studies

  • This study found that exercise indeed improved bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. What was interesting is that the authors found a regression in BMD with the group who stopped exercising after 1 year. This proves the benefits of continued exercise. The researchers state in this study: "Continued exercise training is needed to maintain the bone mass gained through exercise training."
