Improve your
bone strength and density through the best, most effectively
proven method
Osteoporosis is a disease
where the bones become porous and lose their structural integrity,
predisposing the individual to bone fractures. According to
the National Osteoporosis Foundation, this bone deteriorating
condition affects 44 million Americans – 80% are women.
Unfortunately there are no symptoms to osteoporosis. Bone
can slowly disappear over time without you knowing.
If you suffer from osteoporosis, osteopenia
or have a family history of these conditions, you know the
importance of preserving bony tissue. You are likely aware
of the importance of calcium, vitamin D, phosphorus, and magnesium
with their roll in maintaining strong bones. You may even
be taking drugs to help rebuild bony tissue or to at least
prevent the further loss of bone. But are you aware of the
single most effective method for preserving strong bones and
the rebuilding of bony tissue?
Strengthening your bones and skeletal
system through resistance training has shown to be more effective
than alternative approaches. These other approaches include
drugs, vitamin and mineral replacement, aerobic exercise,
etc… While increasing your bone strength you will also
increase your muscle strength furthering your physical abilities.
In addition, the proper exercise prescription will help increase
your balance and coordination, decreasing the likelihood of
a fall.
At Scott Bevins Biomechanics you will
learn the proper way to resistance train and become confidant
with movements you previously would be nervous performing.
You will learn how to apply the basic principles of exercise
and movement, and as your bones and muscles become stronger
move toward a more advanced exercise regimen to increase your
overall strength even further. All of the coaching is in a
safe atmosphere.

Studies
- This study found that exercise indeed improved bone mineral
density (BMD) in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis.
What was interesting is that the authors found a regression
in BMD with the group who stopped exercising after 1 year.
This proves the benefits of continued exercise. The researchers
state in this study: "Continued exercise training is
needed to maintain the bone mass gained through exercise
training."
